Our client, a major science and technology company, is currently looking for Systems Engineer to work within Backup and Recovery team based in East Kilbride. Backup and Recovery team lies within Technical Shared Services and provides support for centralised backup infrastructure of a major customer.Successful applicant will provide technical assistance for implementation and support of Legato Networker, Alphastor, Networker Module for Oracle and other backup mechanisms on UNIX, Intel and other platforms. Veritas Netbackup knowledge would be advantageous, as would knowledge of Oracle and SQL.
Key responsibilities: - Backup, recovery and relocation of Unix, Linux, Windows and Netware file systems - Backup, recovery and relocation of Oracle and SQL databases - Contribution to proposal*project work - Fault finding and diagnosis of incidents - Adherence to defined standards and preparation of documentation - Interaction with 3rd party vendors - Attending meetings with customers as required.
Candidates MUST possess - 2 -3 years of Legato Networker installation, configuration and support experience in multi-site environment - 2 : 3 years experience of either Unix, Linux or Windows Server operating systems - Sound understanding of Oracle and SQL database technologies and experience of configuring online ?RMAN? backups desirable - Willingness to provide 24 x 7 standby services (estimated at 1 week in 5)
